Penguins Group Forage for Better Feeding

A recent study found that African penguins sometimes use group dynamics and strategies to catch fish. The researchers used video footage to show how the penguins manage to gather the fish into columns and then balls, making access to the fish easier for members of the hunting party. Although the birds generally hunted alone, the group foraging technique was found to be “twice as efficient” than when individuals just hunted alone.
