Last summer in our quarterly magazine Action Line we included a feature about Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart, creator of NY-based high fashion vegan clothing label Vaute Couture, because she is innovating the fashion world in a way that proves people don’t need to wear animals ever again! Hilgart made history by becoming the first independent fashion house with animal-free built into its brand to show a vegan line during New York fashion week back in 2013.

We are happy to share the good news that now Vaute Couture’s animal-friendly fashion will be available on the West Coast through October 2015. Vaute Couture Pop-Up Shop, located at 1306 Abbot Kinney Blvd., in Venice, California, opened Aug. 29 and features a pre-fall collection, including the whale print Kelsey dress, printed crops available in bear print, fox print and solids, bear-printed jumpsuits and waxed motorcycle jackets, all made in NYC's garment district with love.

Back here on the east coast, Vaute Couture moved into a new headquarters in the Bushwick/East Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn, right by Dunwell Doughnuts and Champs. The fashion house is doing shopping by appointment only on weekdays, and customers can email sales@vautecouture.com to schedule one. Vaute is looking for the perfect spot in Manhattan for a new store, so stay tuned. For information visit their website.
