When: Thursday, March 25th, 1-3pm.

Where: Lafayette Square Park, Washington, DC (located directly across from White House at 16 Street and H Street, NW).

What: Friends of Animals will hold a press conference and rally in Lafayette Square Park beginning at 1pm, followed by a march to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) offices, located within the Department of Interior building at 1849 C Street, NW. Print out flier for the event.

Wild mustangs and burros of the west are under siege by the BLM. The agency has savagely rounded up tens of thousands of these animals to appease cattle ranchers, who seek to take more control over our public lands.

During the roundups, mustangs and burros are mercilessly chased down by trucks and helicopters. Most spend the rest of their lives in BLM “holding pens,” or worse yet, wind up in slaughterhouses. We need you to stand with us in Washington, DC as we march in support of the mustangs.

The BLM’s assault on wild mustangs and burros run counter to the spirit of federal law. We can end the terrifying roundups and ensure that these free-living animals receive the full and genuine protection they deserve.

Join us as we gather in Lafayette Square Park to demand that President Obama and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar end these roundups. You will have the opportunity to meet prominent leaders, including Priscilla Feral, President of Friends of Animals; Ginger Kathrens, creator of the famous Cloud documentaries; and author, R.T. Fitch. Additional celebrity guests to be announced.

Friends of Animals asserts that the only way to truly protect wild mustangs, on the disappearing pockets of lands that constitute their habitat, is to empower them to remain free.

Wild mustangs and burros must be respected – not sterilized, not privatized and not sold to be slaughtered.

Also, please take a moment to contact the White House and the BLM and ask them to stop the wild horse and burro roundups:
