Friends of Animals’ compassionate gift-giving guide

It’s easier to get into the holiday spirit if you can feel good about your gift purchases—so why not choose ones that don’t contain animal products or test on animals! It’s the only way to give a gift that keeps on giving.

The gift of fragrance

With more than 20 years as a master perfumist, Ami Shadle has traveled from India to Tibet and beyond to find some of the rarest and highest quality essential oils to create her own signature vegan, organic line called “Nectar” by Ami. (The name Ami in Hindi translates to Divine Nectar.)

Her Nectar Eau de Parfum is 75% concentrated Nectar essential oils with a minimal amount of organic grape alcohol. It has the same lasting power as her 100% oil blends, yet has the convenience of an atomizer. Each fragrance is embellished with precious stones and crystals, bottled in Italian glass with a beautiful gold cap. You can also choose from Ami’s Signature Collection of essential oils. She specializes in Cocoa Bean, Tonka bean vanilla, Cacao essence, Clementine, Fir Balsam, Palo Santo, and Moroccan Amber, Kashmir Lavender, Mysore Sandalwood, Black Pepper from Madagascar. Labor of love leashes

What started as a handmade dog leash to cruise the streets of Venice Beach, has become a full-time labor of love. The women at Beast + Babe carefully select artisan and vintage fabrics to center each dog leash and collar. Each fabric has a special story, whether it was hand-loomed by artisans in Guatemala or carried babies up the Himalayan mountains for a half-decade. The “Deck the Howlidays” leash and collar feature a very special Vintage Cranberry and Rainbow Serape. The “babes” of “ Beast + Babe are also passionate about animals and how special they make life. They’ve partnered with an non-profit called Peace Animals who works to spay and neuter homeless and neglected dogs and cats in Mexico. With every item purchased they are able to provide treatment and vaccinations for fleas, ticks, worms and mange to an animal in need. To order, visit www.beastandbabe.com.
