Bill making circus safer for elephants a big flop on prime issue

RECENTLY, lawmakers in our state proposed a bill "to eliminate the mistreatment of captive elephants." Given the name of the group I lead, Friends of Animals, one might think I support the proposal. I don't. The bill lacks the essential understanding that captivity is mistreatment.

As a lifelong Connecticut resident, a mother and an advocate for our planet and its residents, I have come to believe elephants weren't put here to entertain us.

Ringling Bros. Circus -- The Greatest Hell on Earth

Darien, Connecticut — Connecticut-based animal rights organizations Friends of Animals and Animal Rights Front are encouraging the public to protest the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus in a demonstration outside their opening performance in Bridgeport, Connecticut on October 29th from 6:00-7:30 pm. The event will be held outside the Bridgeport Arena at Harbor Yard.

Among the animals Ringling will bring to Bridgeport are elephants, tigers, camels, zebras, llamas, and horses.
