Cheers and Jeers

April 21, 2017 | bear hunt / Hunting & Wildlife Management

We have a cheer today about the news that a misguided bear hunt proposed in Florida has been delayed due to public pressure. State game commissioners agreed Wednesday not to hold a bear hunt for at least two years. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, after more than four hours of emotional testimony from hunters and animal-rights activists, supported a staff contention that public support isn't as high as desired for a repeat of a controversial 2015 hunt.

Friends of Animals knows public backlash matters and that’s why we have been railing against a proposed bear hunt bill in Connecticut this legislative session. Please pick up the phone today and call your local legislators in Connecticut and tell them to vote no to S.B. No. 522. To find an online directory of legislators, use this web address.
