Pet capuchin monkeys can turn on their owners

The State of Illinois just passed a bill, not yet signed into law, that will be enacted in 2011 to ban possession of primates, yet those who already possess them don’t have to relingquish the animals.

[NOTE: Information about 21 states having a prohibition on primates as pets, isn’t correct. D.C., MA, NJ, and Utah have bans. RI has not banned private possession of primates. Fifteen other states have bans but allow residents to possess the primates they had acquired prior to the enactment of bans. These states include CA, CO, DE, GA, Hawaii, Iowa, KY, LA, Maine, MD, MN, NH, NY, PA, WA.]
