Montcalm County Vote Regarding Animal Research: Update

The response to our story ‘Michigan Deals With the Devil,’ outlining the exchange of animals from the county-run animal facility to a Class B research dealer has been tremendous.

In a generous offer of support, the Friends of Animals organization has offered to help the county with the costs of spay and neuter operations, as well as assist in sponsoring Nathan Winograd, author of Redemption and figurehead of the No-Kill movement, in an effort to ease the appallingly high death rates of Montcalm’s animal control facility.
Explains Priscilla Feral, President of Friends of Animals,

“We’d help sponsor Nathan Winograd’s visit to offer instruction on how to transform that shelter to a No Kill operation. That, as you know, involves strategies/networking so that the shelter has a support system with outside foster homes and rescue groups that get the cats and dogs seen, sometimes off-site, and adopted.”
